Over 20 students of University of Nigeria, Nsukka lost
their lives on June 2nd in a fatal accident along Nsukka-Enugu
expressway near 9th Mile, Ngwo, Enugu after the bus they were traveling
in was hit by a tanker. The students were heading to their various homes
after they were told to vacate their school for two weeks following
protests in two campuses - Enugu & Nsukka - of the school.
Before they were asked to leave school, the students
had protested the bad state of ancillary services in the school. They
said their was no water or light, making life difficult for them. The
VC in response, suspended academic activities for two weeks and
students were forced out of the school with military presence. This set
were going home when they met their untimely death. So sad. May their
souls rest in peace. I have pics from the accident but I'm sure you guys
have seen enough!
