Nigeria now has nude posers! Yeah, unfortunately,we now do.This is something we used to think was "that rubbish white people do",now i guess things have changed. I want to talk about the latest one in town. Her name is Beverly Osu, and I had to ''Google'' her to find out who she is and what she is about. All I found is Vanity. Pointless, shallow, debasing, attention and fame seeking vanity. Not that I think seeking fame is wrong. Many great scientist and inventors sought fame which basically led to their achievements. But for Miss Beverly, I found no great W.A.E.C results or achievemment, no daring rescue, no great selfless act, no great invention or contribution to Nigeria. So why do we care about her naked body? Big Brother Africa. Yes. Remember that show? That annoying waste of my time and TV space? Well, not criticising lovers of the show, I just never liked that show. I watched like two episodes and totally lost interest. But we aren't here to talk about BBA. We are here to talk about Beverly Osu. We are here to talk about Nigerians. We are here to talk about the fact that we now seem to accept anything mordernization throws at us.Must we  start allowing the worst of our people dominate our popular culture? The likes of Maheeda, Afrocandy and now beverly osu should not set the pace of our acceptable behaviours and norms. The west lost in terms of culture, why must we follow suit? Not everything the west does is great. I believe if their fore fathers had forseen this kind of decay in their countries when they where designing them, they would have put up preventive measures. I think they just never imagined that full functioning, well fed and educated people could ever find a way to justify walking around nude! lol .So my question to us today is , why are we allowing this same decay today.

NOW THE NEWS IN FULL.....

Sep 1st 2015, 22:40

The British Film Institute (BFI) today unveiled the programme for the 2015 London Film Festival. Clare Stewart, Festival Director, presented this year's rich and diverse selection of films and events including the highly-anticipated Nigerian movie, FIFTY, which has been shortlisted under the 'Love Category'. Fifty is directed by Biyi Bandele and Executively Produced by Mo Abudu...

Fifty is one of 238 fiction and documentary features, including 16 World Premieres, 8 International Premieres and 40 European Premieres.

The film stars Ireti Doyle, Dakore Egbuson, Omoni Oboli and Nse Ikpe-Etim. The production is Mo Abudu's quest to showcase African women coming of age, loaded with increasingly similar aspirations and dilemmas faced by their contemporaries everywhere, while yet navigating unresolved traditions and obligations.

Set in Lagos, a city of disproportionate and breathtaking contrasts, FIFTY celebrates the pulse and energy of this fast developing metropolis and explores the diversities and complexities of its colourful people through the lenses of its women.

Amanda Nevill, Chief Executive Officer, BFI during her opening remarks declared this year's festival theme as "The Year of the Strong Woman"; a fitting theme for FIFTY, a riveting exploration of love and lust, power and rivalry, seduction and infidelity.

FIFTY will have its Festival premiere on Saturday, 17th October 2015, at the Vue 7 Cinema, London, and a special grand Nigeria premiere on the 13th of December 2015 at The Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Mo Abudu, Biyi Bandele, and one of the movie's lead cast members, Nse Ikpe-Etim, were all present at BFI's announcement.

Staking a claim to any of the many juicy professional placements that abound in the IT industry has nothing to do with whether you're IT oriented or not, neither is it about how many IT books you've in your study. It isn't also about how much theory or terminology you've in you or how beautifully laid out your CV looks rather it is essentially about how well you can use the technology to proffer solutions to a company's day-to-day challenges.

A good case in point is the Oracle Database industry which over the years has experienced a dearth in quality professionals skilled enough to manage database infrastructures for organizations. This decline is due to the wrong approach which focuses solely on the academics rather than the application of the technology to solving problems. The Oracle Database Apprentice Program's approach to addressing this decline is simple: 'KNOW IT TO APPLY IT' with emphasis on APPLICATION.

NOW THE NEWS IN FULL.....

Sep 1st 2015, 05:31

Tragedy struck on Monday on Ishawo Road, Ikorodu, Lagos State, after some Ijaw youths, suspected to be pipeline vandals, opened fire on policemen in the area, killing four.
PUNCH Metro learnt that while three of the deceased were attached to the Owutu Police Division, one was from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.Residents said the Ijaw youths took away the corpses of three of their victims.
Our correspondent observed during a visit to the area that there was apprehension in the community, while there were still bloodstains at the scene of the shooting.
ADVERTISEMENTA resident, who asked not to be named, said he started hearing gunshots on Sunday.
A resident told our correspondent petrol was generally referred to as 'water', or 'pure water'.
He said,
"We started hearing gunshots in the evening of Sunday. But it was between 3am and 4am on Monday that the gunshots intensified.

"We did not know what transpired between the 'pure water' sellers and the police, who have a patrol team by the roadside, until we woke up to see blood and later learnt that some policemen had been killed."
Another member of the community explained that the killing was due to a disagreement between the policemen and the suspected vandals.
He said the vandals had paid the policemen some money after they intercepted four tankers of fuel in the community, but the SARS officers later came to make a separate demand.
"After the policemen from Owutu had been settled, SARS operatives came and said they had not been given their own share.
"The vandals asked them to meet their colleagues who had already been paid. They told the SARS men that they were not making much money from the business and that their demand was excessive.
"The SARS officers became angry and seized the tankers."
PUNCH Metro learnt from a police source that the vandals left the trucks and returned to their commander in the creek.
The source said the commander, one OC, was the one coordinating the vandals in the creek.
The source said,
"After SARS officials took over their trucks, they threatened to take them to their station if their demands were not met. The vandals went to mobilise themselves and returned with their boss, OC.
"OC then ordered them to open fire on the policemen and that was how three of them died."
The source identified the deceased cops attached to the Owutu division as Inspector Yerima and Corporal Adakuro, adding that one Sergeant Endurance was rescued from the scene and taken to the Ikorodu General Hospital, from where he was referred to the Lagos Island General Hospital.
He said the station immediately received a call from two other officers, who escaped unhurt, warning of the possibility of an attack on the station.
A source told PUNCH Metro that one of the slain cops, Adakuro, was of Ijaw descent, and knew many of the vandals.
It was learnt that the police corporal had called the bluff of the vandals, which aggravated the matter.
His handset, which had the phone numbers of the vandals, was said to have been taken away after the incident.
It was gathered that the Divisional Police Officer of the Owutu station had reported the case at the command headquarters. The two policemen, who escaped unhurt, were also asked to report at the command.A senior police source said,
"The DPO reported to the CP this morning (Monday). The community has always been peaceful, but the SARS men came to cause trouble. And now, some of our men are unaccounted for."

An Egor Magistrates' Court in Benin, Edo State, on Monday sentenced one Lucky Esonahae to five years imprisonment for setting his pregnant lover ablaze.

The 37-year-old bar operator was arraigned on one count bordering on causing bodily harm.

The charge read, "That you, Lucky Esonahae, on July 6, 2015, at Uwelu Quartres, Benin, in the Egor Magisterial District, did cause grievous harm to one Stella Isaac, by setting her on fire with kerosene, which cause her bodily harm and, thereby, committed an offence punishable under Section 355(B) of the Criminal Code Cap 48, Vol. II, Law of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria, 1976, as applicable to Edo State."

The prosecuting officer, Sergeant Ganiyu Yahya, told the court that the incident occurred at Uwelu Quartres in Benin, and was reported by the victim, Stella Isaac, on July 6, the same day it occurred.

Yahya said Esonahae had poured kerosene on the head of the woman, who was said to be seven months pregnant, lit a match and set her on fire.

He said that the victim was later rescued by one of her sons and her neighbours, who forced the door of her room open, as she had been locked in.

He said the victim, who was later rushed to the Central Hospital, where she received treatment sustained burns on her hands and forehead.

The police prosecutor also told the court that Esonahae had earlier accused the pregnant woman of infidelity for allegedly returning at about 6pm from her ante-natal care and had threatened to kill her, before she ran to her sister's residence.

The accused pleaded guilty to the offence and begged for leniency.

But the presiding magistrate, Igho Braimoh, said the court would not be lenient, adding, "for a 37-year-old man to set a lover on fire leaves much to be desired."

She, therefore, sentenced him to five years in prison with hard labour.

Popular musician Terry G, Channel O presenter, Denrele, Nollywood actress, Grace Amah and a host of other stars were Monday ejected from their hotel in Abakaliki where they had lodged for a programme organized to host Nollywood stars of Ebonyi State origin who are making waves in the entertainment industry.

The government had staged a show at the weekend where it honoured over 50 stars of the state's extraction in the entertainment industry.

Some of those honoured include Cha Cha Ekeh, Grace Amah, Patoranking etc who hail from the state.

But on Monday, some of the stars who attended the show were forcefully ejected from hotel belonging to a prominent politician in the state where they were lodged by the state Ministry of Culture and Tourism, organisers of the event.

Telegraph reports that the stars were seen at the Government House protesting the shoddy treatment meted out to them.

They said they entered into agreement with the government to be paid a certain amount of money as appearance fee which the state government could not honour.

According to one of the stars, Sholade: "Instead of them giving us our return tickets, our appearance fee; they sent police men to forcefully eject us from our hotel room."

It was learnt that the two cars whose keys were handed over to Grace Amah and Patoranking at the event, have not been delivered to the stars as the organizers were yet to complete the payment to the suppliers.

In a reaction, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Dr. Jerry Uhuo said only four days was approved for the stars which elapsed Sunday night.

He regretted that some of the artists misbehaved including smoking against the stipulated rules in the hotel where they were lodged.
