Virginia mom accused of leaving her child in hot car goes to court, leaves 2 children in hot car

25 year old Laquanda Newby, has been charged with 3 counts of contributing to the delinquency or abuse of child after police said she left her two children inside her hot car outside the County Courthouse.

According to news report, Newby was at the courthouse to turn herself in for a previous situation that involved her allegedly leaving a child in a hot car.

On May 26, Newby was accused of leaving a child in a car while she shopped at Sam's Club. When police arrived, they found Newby by her car and could not arrest her for the alleged crime because they had not witnessed it.

Instead, the officer swore out a warrant if Newby promised to later turn herself in.

When Newby turned herself in on Monday, police said she left her two children ages 6 and 1 in her car. Deputies could not say for sure how long the two children were in the car but surveillance video showed it was more than an hour.

The car's windows were closed and temperatures hit the 90s on Monday in Henrico County, police said.

Newby was booked in the Henrico Jail. Her bond was later denied.

The children were placed in the custody of their father.

Gov. Ambode to provide 20 new rural roads in each LGA every year

Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, yesterday, said his administration is committed to provide 20 new rural roads every year in each Local Government, as well as the development of communities across the state.

Ambode, said this during a meeting with members of the Neighbourhood Watch and Community Development Committees, CDCs, at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.

Ambode, who was represented at the event by his Deputy, Dr. Oluranti Adebule, said his administration's policy is to give back government to the communities.

He also appreciated the contributions of the Neighbourhood Watch members to the maintenance of law and order in the communities, adding that there was the need for the Neighbourhood to embark on self appraisal in order to ensure that the members live up to the expectations.

The Coordinator of the Neighbourhood Watch, Alhaji Akeem Sanni commended the state government for always recognizing the Watchers. He said that whatever the members lack in terms of equipment would be channelled to the governor.

Firefighter responds to car crash, finds wife and son are the victims

A firefighter responded to head-on collision and found his wife and young son among the victims.
"It's my family. My wife was laying there on the ground," firefighter Aaron Van Riper said. "I don't know how either one of them lived. There was nothing left of that car."
Both his wife, Amber, and son, Jonathan, 7, were airlifted to the hospital. Both suffered multiple fractures.

Van Riper told KTRK his wife went through nine hours of surgery on Sunday to repair a broken pelvis.

"She gave a thumbs-up to the doctor, but that's the first time she showed signs of anything," Aaron added

Both his wife and son are expected to be in wheelchairs temporarily as they recover.
It is unclear if anyone else was injured in the accident.

However the family doesn't have medical insurance so friends set up a GoFundMe account to raise $50,000 to cover the medical costs.

Man arrested for having sex with his 14 year old daughter in Lagos

The Lagos state police command has arrested a 49 year old plank seller and father, Adeboye Adesola (pictured right) for allegedly having sex with his 14 year old daughter (pictured left) who is in SS1.

The girl said she moved in with her father and his new wife in a one-room apartment in Ikorodu after she lost her mother. According to Daily Independent, the girl alleged that he first had sex with her in November 2014 and tried it again in March 2015 immediately after he separated from her stepmother. He slept with her claiming he wanted to see if she was still a virgin.

After the second encounter, she ran away from home and took refuge in a church where she told a pastor what her father had done to her. The pastor and other church leaders reported the case at the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos on May 20th. Her father was arrested on May 21st.

"My mother died when I was three years old. We were six in number living in the room, my father, his new wife, my younger brother and my two half sisters. My mom died in 2007. She gave birth to me and my brother. It all started in 2014. He used to check my private part to see if I had started menstruating or having sex with men. I was sleeping in the midnight, he removed my wrapper. By then, my step mother had packed out of his house because she was accused of dating other men in the compound. He inserted his finger in my private part and asked me if I had started menstruation, I said no. He asked if I have had sex before and I said no. He said he would use his penis to test it. He climbed on me, I wanted to scream, but he held my mouth. I bled from that night till the following day. I felt very bad but he warned me that nobody must hear what he did to me. He repeated it again on 5th March, 2015. He did it between 9pm and 10pm. He used condom in the first one. This time, he asked me to remove my clothe and lie on the bed. It was a Thursday night, I could not bear it anymore. So the following day, I packed my things and left the house. I dropped a note that he should not look for me. I moved to a nearby church and stayed there. My uncle took me to the church and the members brought me to the police station after I told them what my dad did to me."the girl said.

When interrogated, her father blamed the devil for his action

"The day I was brought here (police station), I was thoroughly beaten by members of the O'odua People's Congress (OPC) who forced me to confess that I had canal knowledge of my daughter. But here in the police station, nobody beat me. I told the Oga that it was devil's work. Oga, I'm sorry, pity me. I'm from poor family. I am the only one taking care of them. Forgive me for whatever happened, I did not know what happened."

In May, an 18-year-old Romanian girl died as she tried to take "the ultimate selfie" on top of a train, now these 2 teenage girls are in a serious condition after being electrocuted as they tried to take a selfie on top of a train which they thought was no longer in use.

Russian friends Olesya Belmasova and Anastasiya Kirillova, who are both 16, suffered horrific burns after brushing against a live rail track in the Russian city of Taganrog.

They climbed on it because they thought it no longer worked but the train sat on tracks with thousands of volts running through them.

The friends were spotted by a passing worker, who witnessed the horrifying moment they were electrocuted.
"I was walking towards them to ask them what they were doing when they were suddenly blasted to the ground," he said.
"One was completely blackened and the other was on fire as if she had exploded."
The two girls were rushed to a children's hospital with 70% burns and several fractures.

Anastasia, who can still talk despite the severity of her injuries, said:

"We climbed on top of the tank car and then I heard a loud clap. We fell off the car and onto the ground.

"My hair was on fire and I was in so much pain."

A police spokesman said:

"They wanted to take some photos from the top of the tank car but were injured by a high-voltage electric current."

Aluu 4 case re-opened in court..2 of them would have graduated this week

...if they hadn't been brutally killed. The Aluu 4 case was re-opened in a Rivers court yesterday June 11th (since the courts are now opened in the state), but sadly they couldn't hear the case because of the absence of the accused persons. The case was adjourned to July.

Meanwhile friends of the boys have paid tribute to them. Two of the boys, Lloyd & Ugonna would have graduated this week if they hadn't been killed on October 5 2012 by a mob in Aluu community. Llyod would have graduated B.tech in Engineering and Ugonna B.sc in Geology. May their souls continue to rest in peace. #JusticceforAluu4.

Nwala Noble is the friend who paid them tribute and whose graduation gown you see above. He would have graduated today with his friends...if they hadn't been brutally murdered.
