A young couple moved into a new neighbourhood. The next morning while eating breakfast, the young woman saw her neighbour through the window hanging the wash outside.

"That laundry is not clean," she said. "She doesn't know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap".

Her husband looked on, but remained silent. Every time the neighbour would hang laundry to dry, the young woman would make the same
comments.

About one month later, the woman was surprised to see nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband: "Look, she has learnt how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this!"

The husband replied: "I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows."

And so it is with life.

What we see when watching others depends on the purity of the window through which we look.

Easy to discuss other people, their lives and things that don't really concern us.

Yet we tend to forget- our window isn't that clean after all.

Clean up your window with the WORD! (THE TRUTH.)

LORD, please give us the strength, humility and courage that we may work on our faults first rather than seeing the faults in Others and castigating them.

Have a beautiful Week !

Memorise: Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. - Matthew 18:10

Read: Matthew 18:1-5 (KJV)

1 At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,

3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.

Bible in one Year: Numbers 10:11-11:35; 2 Corinthians 5:11-6:13

MESSAGE:

Children are not just God's property; they are also God's weapons of war. This is why you must be very careful in the way you handle or treat them. Jesus gave us a fascinating revelation about children in Matthew 18:10, where He said:

"Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angles do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven."

For the revelation, we understand that every child has at least one angel guiding him or her. Have you seen an angel before? By His grace I have seen them a couple of times and I can say that they can be fearfully huge, particularly some of the mighty angels. If you were to meet one of such angels, the first thing he will likely say to you is "Fear not!" Why? Nobody will see an angel for the first time without being terrified. Speaking of the size of some of the mighty angels: although one of the world's largest airplanes is an Airbus A380, do you know that one mighty angel can carry this airplane on the palm of his hand? God says that every child has an angel and every one of such angels has direct access to God. Attaching a powerful angel to a child is what makes children a terrific weapon. If you mess around with a child, you are inviting an angel of God to deal with you.

Moreover, children are weapons in God's hands because we the older ones are so preoccupied with the hustle and bustle of life that our ears have become dull of hearing. When God speaks, we often don't hear, but the ears of children are open to God. They do not worry as we do. In fact, children believe that all they need will be provided for by their parents. So time after time, when God wants to send a message, He could send it through a child. This is one reason why parents must adhere strictly to God's word in raising their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. A child that is brought up to love and fear the Lord will be a great asset and tool in God's hands. Such a family, as busy as the parents may be, will not lack divine direction, as the children will be able to hear from God. How often does God speak to your children? Are you raising them in the ways of God?

Key Point: God may have been speaking to your godly children. If they have not told you, it could be that you have not created a conducive atmosphere for them to do so.

Nigerian 'Prophet' T.B. Joshua has released an intriguing sermon on popular video-sharing site YouTube revealing his coveted 'success secrets'.

In the video, which shows several clips of an almost unrecognizable Joshua in his 'early ministry', the cleric reveals that the persecution he encountered was instrumental in preparing him for the arduous task of serving in God's vineyard.

"I began discovering the good life when I was only 15 years old," Joshua explained. "It's all about love and be loved. Help and be helped. Show mercy and receive mercy. Give and receive more of whatever you give.

Here are just a few of his 'success secrets' worth pondering on:
·        "When you learn what God has made you for and how He treasures your company, you are bound to be contented, self-sufficient and happy."
·        "We should not allow unhealthy ego, pride or greed to overrule our good intention."
·        "Those who have the greatest and most positive impact on society are not concerned with name and fame."
·        "Every day you must stay true to your purpose, despite snow or rain. When your purpose is clear, your life will have meaning."
·        "A resolve to do whatever proper thing it takes separates the weak from the strong. The strong are determined to do whatever possible and proper thing to get to their goal."
·        "If you are focused only on making money, a large slice of life will pass you by."
·        "Adopting a lifestyle that is on purpose provides an opportunity to enrich others by leaving your imprint in a positive way. "

Surprisingly,  T.B. Joshua has not been seen in public for almost six months, his last appearing being a crusade in Mexico held in May 2015.

The ATHENA laser weapon system was tested against a pickup truck in March (Credit: Lockheed Martin)

FOX News: Lockheed Martin's modular ATHENA laser weapon is headed to production

The US military already has a few high-powered laser weapons at its disposal, but it's about to get a hell of a lot more. Earlier this week, defense contractor Lockheed Martin began production of its modular, Advanced Test High Energy Asset (ATHENA) laser system for the US Army -- a weapon that's expected to roll out on the battlefield sometime next year.

If you're not familiar with the ATHENA system, all you really need to know is that Lockheed has been working on it for the past few years, and demonstrated its power a few months ago by disabling a truck with it. This feat was accomplished by firing a sustained 30 kilowatt burst at the vehicle's hood, and burning a hole through the engine block. It's ridiculously powerful -- but power alone isn't its most revolutionary feature.

NOW THE NEWS IN FULL.....

Oct 10th 2015, 04:59

An ancient African genome has been sequenced for the first time.
Researchers extracted DNA from a 4,500-year-old skull that was discovered in the highlands of Ethiopia.
A comparison with genetic material from today's Africans reveals how our ancient ancestors mixed and moved around the continents.
The findings, published in the journal Science, suggests that about 3,000 years ago there was a huge wave of migration from Eurasia into Africa.

This has left a genetic legacy, and the scientists believe up to 25% of the DNA of modern Africans can be traced back to this event.
"Every single population for which we have data in Africa has a sizeable component of Eurasian ancestry," said Dr Andrea Manica, from the University of Cambridge, who carried out the research.

Ancient genomes have been sequenced from around the world, but Africa has proved difficult because hot and humid conditions can destroy fragile DNA.
However, the 4,500-year-old remains of this hunter gatherer, known as Mota man, were found in a cave and were well preserved.

Importantly, a bone that is situated just below the ear, called the petrous, was intact.
Dr Manica, speaking to Science in Action on the BBC World Service, said: "The petrous bone is really hard and does a really good job of preventing bacteria getting in and degrading this DNA.
"What we were able to get is some very high quality undamaged DNA from which we could reconstruct the whole genome of the individual.
"We have the complete blueprint, every single gene, every single bit of information that made this individual that lived 4,500 years ago in Ethiopia."
The genome revealed that Mota man had purely African DNA, his ancestors had never moved from Africa.
But the comparison of this with modern African genomes highlighted that about 1,500 years after his death, the make-up of the continent had changed.
Genetic studies have shown that after the great migration out of Africa, which happened about 60,000 years ago, some people later returned to the continent.
But this study shows that about 3,000 years ago there was a much larger migration than had been thought.
The Neolithic farmers from western Eurasia who, about 8,000 years ago, brought agriculture to Europe then began to return to Africa.
"We know now that they probably corresponded to a quarter of the people that already lived in East Africa (at that time). It was a major backflow, a very sizeable movement of people," said Dr Manica.
It is unclear what caused this move - potentially changes happening in the Egyptian empire - but it has left a genetic legacy.
"Quite remarkably, we see in Ethiopia about 20% - so a fifth - of the genome of people living there right now is actually of Eurasian origin, it actually comes from these farmers," explained Dr Manica.
"But it goes further than that, because if you go to the corners of Africa, all the way to West Africa or South Africa, even populations that we really thought were purely African have 5-6% of their genome that dates back to these western Eurasian farmers."

Commenting on the research, Dr Carles Lalueza-Fox, from the Institute of Evolutionary Biology in Barcelona, Spain, said:
"What is nice is that it places in time the origin of the Eurasian backflow into Africa already detected some years ago from modern genome data, and it turns out to be the farming.
"Once again, like in the case of Europe where we see dramatic genomic turnover, the spread of agriculture has had a huge impact even in a continent where large groups continued to be hunter gatherers.

A dad who kicked his 6 year old daughter in the head when she tried to stop him from beating up her mum in a violent attack has been jailed for six years.26 years old Christopher Potts pleaded guilty to section 18 wounding against his former partner and actual bodily harm against their daughter.

According to Liverpool Echo, The attack, involving the use of an ornament and glasses, took place at a property in Newton-le-Willows on July 3 leaving the woman with multiple injuries to her head and body.

Speaking after yesterday's sentencing at Liverpool Crown Court, DC Colette Robinson said:
"Potts subjected his former partner to a brutal and sustained assault, which included the use of an ornament and glasses, that left her with multiple injuries to her head, face, torso, legs and arm. Not only did the victim's six-year-old daughter witness her mother being attacked, she was also kicked by Potts to the head herself when she tried to intervene to protect her.
"This incident has had a profound effect on both the mother and her daughter, both physically and psychologically.
"No one should ever have to suffer in silence, or feel that they are alone. There is a great deal of professional advice and support out there for people in unhappy, unhealthy, confrontational relationships and these are available free of charge.
"Whether you are a man or a woman, you should not have to suffer or endure verbal or physical abuse from a partner or relative.

NOW THE NEWS IN FULL.....

Oct 10th 2015, 04:45

A man is fighting for his life after being bitten by one of the world's most poisonous spiders in a toilet.
Orlando Jimenez Jimenez, 31, is suffering from kidney and liver failure while the toxins have also caused his eye and ear to rot.
He is currently being treated by doctors at Honorio Delgado Espinoza hospital in Arequipa, in southern Peru.

They have released a video of him semi-conscious while breathing through a tube in his hospital bed to highlight his plight.
The footage shows his ear rotting and his eyelid turning black.
His mother Felicitas Maria Jimenez said the spider fell on him and bit his left ear.
Within minutes, his health deteriorated and they took him to a local health centre where he was given an antidote.
But his condition worsened and he is now in an intensive care unit.
Doctors believe he was bitten by a Chilean Recluse spider, one of the deadliest in the world.
The Chilean variety is considered to be the most dangerous of the recluse spiders and its venom can cause severe allergic reactions and even death.
In November, five-year-old Branson Riley Carlisle, from Albertsville in Alabama, U.S., died after he was bitten by a brown recluse spider.
A month earlier, a 10-year-old Montana boy also died after being bitten on the leg by the same species.

Last month, a British barrister told how he nearly lost his leg after being bitten by a brown recluse spider during a flight.

Jonathon Hogg's leg ballooned minutes after he felt a sharp pain on the plane to South Africa.
By the time he reached hospital it had turned black and to save the limb surgeons had to cut away a large part of his leg where the venom had eaten the flesh.
He was left with a gaping hole on the front of his shin.

Mr Hogg, 40, said: 'The pain was like nothing I've been through in my life. By the time I got to hospital my leg was bursting open, there was pus, it was black.
'It was a right mess. They told me if I had been any later I would have lost my leg or even died. It was terrifying.'

NOW THE NEWS IN FULL.....

Oct 10th 2015, 04:19

Virginia Chumbley was asleep when she was shot to death with a  handgun in her home by her Husband of 20 years who cried as he called 911.
"I just shot my wife," Chris Chumbley told the Laurel County emergency operator. "Give me the police. I'm under arrest."
He later told authorities the killing was an act of mercy: His wife of two decades, who everyone knew as Jenny, had asked to die because her cancer had spread.

Her body was swollen and her pain was immense. She had to use a wheelchair when she wasn't bed-ridden and Chumbley has said he was honoring her wish.

Chumbley, 50, was charged with murder, but last month, prosecutors reached a deal that would allow him to plead guilty to manslaughter. He faces 15 years in prison when he is sentenced by a judge Thursday.
The August 2013 shooting renewed the debate over mercy killings and the right to die in a nation where five states -Oregon, Vermont, Washington, Montana and most recently California - have laws that allow doctors to prescribe life-ending drugs.

In Jenny Chumbley's case, her husband and prosecutors disagreed over how long she had to live. He said she only had weeks, his lawyer said. Prosecutors believe it was longer than that.
Chumbley's brother, Tony Chumbley, said Chris and Jenny had watched Chris' mother slowly die of lung cancer years before, and she told Chris she never wanted her suffering dragged out like that.
"I think Chris done it out of love for her," said Tony Chumbley. "I think he would not have done it if she didn't ask him to. If my wife got that sick and she asked me, I would hope I was man enough to do what Chris did."
On the 911 call the night of the shooting, Chris Chumbley told the operator that his wife has cancer "all over" and had a doctor's appointment the next day.

During the 16-minute call, he asked the operator if he could go see his wife's body one last time.
The operator said no, and he complied.

Jenny Chumbley's mother, Rita Smith, told media after a 2013 hearing that Jenny wanted chemotherapy and did not want to die.

There have been other recent cases of alleged mercy killings. Last year, 88-year-old William Dresser shot his wife of 68 years in her Nevada hospital bed after she had begged to die.
Dresser was later cleared after prosecutors determined it wasn't malicious and Dresser was too old and sick to face prison.

A California case that's still pending involves Jerry Canfield, who placed roses around his ailing wife of 37 years before shooting her in the head. The 72-year-old Canfield told police the two had agreed he would end her life if an illness left her in constant pain. He is charged with murder.

Right-to-die advocates say families should have more options.

Borno State governor and The Chairman, Northern Governors' Forum, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, on Friday, inaugurated a committee consisted of Governors of the 19 Northern states to look into the activities of sponsors of Boko Haram so they can prosecute them.
While inaugurating the committee at the Hassan Katsina House in Kaduna, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, noted that the days of the deadly sect were numbered.

According to Punch, the committee, which comprises of the attorneys-general and commissioners of justice of the 19 Northern states, was given the task to flush these criminals out and deal with them according to the law.

Shettima said:
"The committee should also look at the condemnable activities of the sponsors of the insurgency and come up with legally pragmatic, appropriate and proportionate punishment.
"The committee should also focus specifically on parents, who because of some pittance, sacrifice their children as suicide bombers. Such parents must be made to face the full wrath of the law.
"The committee also has the mandate to carefully analyse the various emergent security challenges confronting the Northern states and determine how best to incorporate them into the penal code for proper and effective administration of justice."
He added:
"The establishment of this committee is the direct outcome of one of the resolutions of the last meeting of the Northern States Governors' Forum held here in Kaduna on September 11, 2015 to the effect that most of the criminal offences currently being perpetrated especially in this part of the country like kidnapping, cattle rustling and inciting religious preaching, inter-alia have either not been adequately covered by the penal code or not at all.
"Therefore it has become a matter of strategic imperative to review the existing criminal justice system in its entirety in order to ensure that it is up to date and consistent with our current situation.
"The Boko Haram insurgency, which has been raging on for the past six years, is one of the many serious security challenges we are experiencing.
"It has been generally agreed that one of the root causes of the insurgency was inciting preaching by the sect which inevitably stoked the violence and culminated in the extremely complicated and unconventional security situation facing this part of the country and in particular the North-East."

NOW THE NEWS IN FULL.....

Oct 10th 2015, 03:51

14-year-old Tomilola, her brother, Rahman, 10 and their 42-year-old mother, Felicia (not real names), have had to settle for a kiosk as their abode since Tomilola was allegedly raped by her stepfather, 60-year-old Joseph Salako, and they were constrained to leave the man's house. Since there was no money to get an accommodation, they had to make do with the abandoned kiosk.

In July 2015, Felicia caught her husband, Tomilola's stepfather, moment after raping the teenager. And so, their woes began. After she raised the alarm, they were allegedly sent packing by the suspected rapist and they have been living on the street ever since.
Tomilola told our correspondent that her stepfather had formed the habit of sleeping with her at any slight opportunity and threatening her never to divulge the secret or face death.
She began, "My mum had told me to always go and greet him anytime I got home. So, when I came back from school, I went to greet him. I was about leaving when he called me and said he wanted to tell me something that I must not tell anyone.
"He said he wanted to sleep with me. I refused but before I could run away, he carried me and took me inside. He tore my panties and 'did it'. I was crying because it was paining me but he didn't stop. I tried to shout but he covered my mouth. When he finished, he cleaned my legs and his 'thing' and warned me that he would kill me if I told anyone."
For the fear of the perceived death, Tomilola refused to tell anyone about the incident. Even when he allegedly raped her repeatedly, the fear would not allow her talk to anyone about it, until the day he was caught.
She continued, "That was not the only time he did it. At other times, he would call me and tell me to 'suck' him and because I usually refused, he would slap me. Sometimes, in the midnight, he would come down from the bed and 'do it' with me. If I tried to shout, he would cover my mouth and ask if I was ready to die. I would have to endure the pain and just keep quiet.
"The day my mum saw us was the fifth time. When my mum came in, he was already doing it but when he saw the ray of light from the torch my mum was holding, he quickly stood up and went to block her. He would always promise to buy me anything I needed. We had to leave because of the incident."
Felicia had lost her husband in 2008 in a motor accident after which she married Salako and moved in with him together with her two children, both of whom are sickle cell patients.
Since the rape incident happened in July, Felicia and her two children, excluding the eight-year-old girl she had with the man, have had to move out of Salako's house, to avoid the fulfilment of the threat allegedly handed down by Salako's children, should they report the matter to the police.

Pained by what happened to her daughter, Felicia defied that threat and reported the matter at the Gowon Estate police station. Even though Salako was arrested, he was allegedly released the following day because he promised to pay N50,000 for 'damages', the idea Felicia said she was constrained to accept because of the threats by Salako's children and the need to raise money to take care of the children.
Not only that, she said one of Salako's daughters took her to the State High Court premises at Ikeja and made her swear an affidavit that she would not press charges.
"They took advantage of the fact that I am not literate," she said.
Felicia could barely avoid breaking down in tears as she explained how fate had brought them to their present situation.
She explained that she used to have a shop in front of her (new) husband's house where she was doing a dry-cleaning job and that after closing from the shop, usually in the night, they would all go in and sleep.
On the day of the incident, she said her little boy was asleep in the shop and because of the cold, she sent her daughter to go into their room upstairs and bring a cloth to cover the little boy, who was sick. She said she became unsettled when the girl did not return on time.
She continued, "I was waiting for her to return with the cloth so I could cover her brother, but when I didn't see her, I took my torch and went upstairs to see why it was taking her too long. When I entered the sitting room, the other children had slept and everywhere was quiet.
"So, I went towards the room and suddenly, my husband came out of the room naked and blocked the entrance with his hands. I asked him why he was blocking me but instead of answering me, he asked what I was looking for. So, I passed under his hand to see what was happening. To my greatest surprise, I found my daughter also naked on the floor. I saw my daughter's panties close to the entrance. When I asked her what happened, she was about explaining when he slapped her and told her to keep quiet. I couldn't hold it to myself, so I screamed and started shouting.
"His other children then came out and told me not to make noise about it so I wouldn't disgrace their father, but I couldn't keep it to myself. I slept in the shop with the two of them that night."
After series of threats from Salako's children, some neighbours who later learnt about the incident, advised her to make a formal report at the police station two weeks later.
"I went to report at the Gowon Estate Police Division. Because of the way the man always pestered me for sex, I used to pray that God should help me so he could reduce his demands. So when he stopped asking, I thought my prayer had been answered not knowing that he had transferred his urge to my daughter.
"I didn't know he could do that to my child even when he is not the father. This is the man I was married to for nine years. These days, anytime I come across him or his children, they keep threatening me."
Stuck in frustration and utter depression, Felicia has been taking care of her children with the little money she gets when she helps people to wash their clothes, which she does occasionally.
"I'm willing to work but there is none," she said. Tomilola has also been helping in sustaining the family with the little she earns from a canteen where she washes plates.
Felicia told our correspondent that lately, Salako had been persuading her to come back home. But she said she had made up her mind never to do so, even though she had an eight-year-old girl for him.
Meanwhile, the health situation of Tomilola and her brother is another headache for their mother. The children look sickly and are in obvious need of urgent help.
They have not been able to go to school because of their situation. Paucity of funds has also forced their mother to rely on only prayers to help them. The little amount of money which comes to her from scrounging for a living goes into feeding. While they continue to live in this unsafe kiosk, which is open to the severe weather conditions that SS patients should not be exposed to, Salako has remained a free man.
When our correspondent and Ogwu visited his house around Akinogun Bus Stop in Shagari Estate, a short distance from where Felicia now lives, he was unsettled when his visitors introduced themselves. Even though he maintained that he "didn't do anything to the girl," his demeanour gave him away as someone who had something to hide.
Flanked on one side by one of his children, Salako explained that Felicia packed out of the house for no reason known to him, saying he had been calling her to come back home. When asked about his arrest by the police, he admitted that he was arrested but refused to disclose the reason.
"As I'm speaking to you, I don't know where she is. I didn't do anything to her daughter. The money I'm paying to the police is the money she asked from me sometime ago. I've paid her N25,000 already," he said.
The Divisional Police Officer, Gowon Estate Police Station, CSP Festus Otabor, explained that the police had yet to find sufficient evidence to prosecute the suspect. He added that the woman had sworn to an affidavit not to press charges against her husband since there was no enough evidence to validate the allegation.
"When they came here, the woman was crying and begging us not to take him to court. So, now if she wants us to do that, she should come to us and we will look into it, but the test result didn't produce a sufficient evidence," he added.
