NOW THE NEWS IN FULL.....

Jul 26th 2015, 06:36

60 year old Caroline Cossey, a transgender model, appeared in Playboy back in 1981, at the time her transgender identity was a secret. She has since broken boundaries and fought tirelessly for the transgender community.
And while she is thrilled by the outpouring of love and support for Caitlyn Jenner, the former Bond girl has admitted that she is worried the reality star is moving too fast with her transition.

When Caitlyn made her debut on the cover of Vanity Fair in June, unfounded rumors that she had already undergone gender reassignment surgery began to swirl. But as a transgender woman who went through countless and lengthy psychological evaluations before she completed her transition, Caroline has admitted to Daily Mail Online that she is 'praying Caitlyn hasn't had surgery' just yet.

'She looks amazing,' Caroline said. 'But everything is being done in such a rushed hurry.'
Guidelines for sexual reassignment surgery (SRS) vary from country to country, and Caroline explained that a candidate typically has to undergo psychological testing, and wait at least a year before being approved for sexual reassignment surgery.
However, she imagines that someone with extreme wealth, like Caitlyn, would be able to find a way to bypass these requirements.

Recalling the detailed and incredibly personal questioning she had to undergo before being able to proceed with gender reassignment surgery, Caroline explained that during Caitlyn's powerful interview with Diane Sawyer in April, the athlete, who maintained she is attracted to women, was not asked whether she got sexually aroused when dressing in women's clothes.

'That's the first thing they asked,' she said of starting the SRS process. 'They try to deter you from surgery.'
Caroline said there is a huge difference between being transgender and being a transvestite, and while there is 'absolutely nothing wrong' with being a transvestite, confusion can lead to a painful surgery and a lifetime of regret.

'She is beautiful. She looks amazing,' Caroline said of Caitlyn. 'I just want to make sure she is not going down the wrong road.'
Caroline is not only protective of Caitlyn, she is worried about the countless others who may be rushing into SRS as a result of the increased public awareness about transgender people.

'I am very concerned about the people who are following and rushing into things without getting the right counseling,' she explained.

Ultimately, Caroline said she wants Caitlyn to be happy, and while the I Am Cait star hasn't reached out to her, she said she would love to share her experience and answer any questions she might have.
'You can't just go from playing the male role for 65 years, and then go to being a female and expect for it to fall into place,' she said.

'The most important thing she's got - and I was very touched by this - she has got a loving and supportive family. That's what kept me stable, and that's what will keep her stable.'

Caroline recently spoke with Playboy about her experience after decades of silence, as well as the initial shock she felt when Caitlyn came out as a transgender woman. However, the interview was conducted before Bruce transitioned to Caitlyn, and she referred to her using her former name and male pronouns.
'I hope she wasn't offended by anything that was in Playboy,' Caroline said earnestly. 'That interview was done before she came out. I wouldn't be that disrespectful. She deserves the respect to be Caitlyn now.'

While she candidly shared her concerns about Caitlyn, Caroline was just as quick to offer praise for her.

Caroline found Caitlyn's Vanity Fair cover to be 'beautiful', noting that she liked how 'she embraced the old glamour of Hollywood' when she posed in an ivory corset.

NOW THE NEWS IN FULL.....

Jul 26th 2015, 05:44

Some former loyalists of former Minority Leader, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila and members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, loyalists group, on Saturday declared support for the House of Representatives Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara.
The lawmakers claimed that it was better to place the interest of the country ahead of all other considerations and accept the positions of the principal officers of the House as proposed by Dogara.

Gbajabiamila who has the backing of the Loyalists Group, had for long insisted that the office of Majority Leader must be zoned to the South-West and be held by him.

Members of the group who attended a joint news briefing in Abuja with the Speaker's group were Mr. Alhassan Ado-Doguwa (Kano State); Mr. Mohammed Monguno (Borno State); and Mr. Pally Iriase (Edo State).

The APC leadership, in a June 23 letter to Dogara, had recommended to zone the majority leader to the South-West; deputy leader to North-West; chief whip to North-East and the deputy whip to South-South.

However, the Speaker opposed it, citing alleged violation of federal character principle, and instead, proposed to zone the majority leader to the North-West.

Dogara also zoned the deputy leader to the North-Central; chief whip to the South-South; and deputy whip to the South-East.

By the Speaker's proposal, Ado-Doguwa will now become the majority leader, while a lawmaker from Kogi State, Mr. Buba Jibrin, will become the deputy leader.
Mr. Pally Iriase from Edo State, will become the chief whip, while the position of deputy whip which goes to the South-East will be occupied by Mr. Chike Okafor.

Ado-Doguwa, Monguno and Iriase were all Gbajabiamila's men, but had made a U-turn to back Dogara.
They are now members of a new group, "Equity Forum."

Dogara is set to name the principal officers on Tuesday when the House would have reconvened from its current four-week break.

Speaking on behalf of the loyalists group, Iriase claimed that their change of mind was due to the realisation that members had to comply with Section 14 of the 1999 Constitution, which dealt with federal character.
Iriase added,
"Let Nigerians know that the crisis in the House has been resolved.
"Based on the letter the speaker wrote to the APC, under Section 13 of the constitution, he is to ensure compliance with Section 14 (3) of the constitution.
"We have, therefore, accepted the Speaker's proposal on the equitable distribution of the principal positions.
"The majority of APC members in the loyalists group have accepted these positions for the sake of promoting equity."
According to Iriase, the loyalists group won a major victory over Dogara for being able to produce the majority leader, deputy leader and chief whip.
Ado-Doguwa also spoke at the session, saying he backed the position of the group as explained by Iriase.
He said:
"We reached a point that we just agreed that the interest of the whole nation supersedes any other.
"Where we are now is okay for us as a group and we must sheathe our swords and move on," he added.
On his part, Monguno looked weighed down when he said that by agreeing to team up with the Speaker, he knew he had become one of the biggest losers.
Monguno had wanted to be the Seaker, but stepped down for Gbajabiamila. He also contested the post of deputy leader and lost to the current occupant, Mr. Yusuf Lasun.
The APC later proposed him to be the chief whip but he also agreed to swap the position with Iriase, who was initially nominated as deputy whip by the party.
His case worsened when Dogara's proposal excluded his zone, North-East, from the four contested principal offices.
"Ordinary, I should have been the last person to be part of this meeting, considering the fact that, all along, I have been the one making the sacrifice.
"Ultimately, I have become the loser in all of this. But, for the interest of the nation and the House, I have accepted to work with this arrangement," Monguno stated.
The spokesman of the House Dogara, Mr. Abdulmumin Jibrin, had also confirmed that the new development signalled the end of the crisis.
Jibrin promised that the loyalists group, particularly Gbajabiamila and Monguno, would be adequately compensated in the distribution of key committees in the days ahead.
He said,
"We have commenced collection of signatures which has reached advanced stage to affirm the Dogara formula.
"All other interests, including those excluded from the principal officers, specifically, Gbajabiamila and Mongunu, will be duly accommodated with commensurate responsibility to serve.
"Since the Speaker has about 200 positions to share out, many members will have the opportunity to serve the country."

Oyinbo Princess

Popularly known as Oyinbo Princess, this British-born actor and comedienne is admired for her mastery of the Pidgin English. Married to a Nigerian, she talks about her love for Nigeria

Briefly talk about your background
I was born into a small family and raised in the United Kingdom. Growing up for me was challenging and rewarding, but most of all I have very fond memories of it. After college, I worked in Greece as an activities assistant for children. Upon returning to the UK, I stumbled on a full-time role in the travel industry. I was also a manager for a foremost recruitment firm in London, and worked for one of the leading airlines.
What is your real name?
My real name has been kept confidential; my management team believe this is best as everyone knows me as Oyinbo Princess. I do feel that at the right time, my full name will become common knowledge.
What fuelled the passion to learn and speak Pidgin English?
My passion for Nigeria pushed me to learn and be as involved as I could be. I became interested in Pidgin English in the early 2000s, when I listened to artistes such as Tuface, PSquare, Timaya and Duncan Mighty. I noticed that many of the songs sounded quite like English, but I could tell they were different from pure English. From loving the beats, I became interested in learning the meaning of the lyrics. I found myself seeking the attention of Nigerians living in London, who I could learn from.
How long did it take you to learn Pidgin English?
It took many years to become familiar with the language and I still have so much more to learn every day. I was a little shy about speaking it, but by making mistakes, I learnt the correct way to speak. I still make mistakes and have a British accent when pronouncing certain words or phrases. I like to be corrected in order to help me in future. I would love to learn the Warri version of the language, called Waffi.
You are also an actor and comedienne, how did you discover that part of you?
Acting came naturally to me. I became interested in acting from a young age and took part in many local productions. As a child and young adult, I was a member of the Royal Theatre of Dance and Drama Association, where I discovered it was definitely a path I wished to follow. I like to be on stage, in front of the camera and in the spotlight.
What do you find captivating about Nigeria?
The beauty of the country and landscape, the differences in culture and hospitality of the Nigerians I have met fascinate me. Sometimes, I forget that I am British when I am around Nigerians. Nigerians are truly inspiring, irrespective of the unfortunate cases reported in the media. Nigeria is the most amazing place. I believe that our cultures are fairly similar in terms of respect and hospitality.
How often do you visit Nigeria?
I have lost count of the number of times I have visited Nigeria. I wish to build my own house in Nigeria and spend every year shuttling between Nigeria and England. I would like to work in Nigeria with Nollywood artistes, and invest some of my earnings in projects which will be beneficial to the local people. I look forward to what the future holds, with God's grace.
You are married to a Nigerian…
Yes, and it has been three years. I met him when I visited a friend of mine who was also dating a Nigerian. I requested that he brought his friend to balance the date. From the second I met him, I instantly felt a connection to him. I was swept off my feet by his pleasant manners, interest in me as a person and caring attitude. It felt good to have someone passionate about me and as time passed, I knew he was the one for me.
Do you regret not marrying a Briton?
I do not regret marrying a Nigerian. I like the spark which comes from being in a biracial relationship and enjoy learning things different from what I may be used to. I married the man I love and I would not want it any other way.
What challenges do you face as a result of the cross-cultural marriage?
There are obviously some obstacles to overcome especially when learning something new. Rather than seeing things as challenges, I see things as learning curves, where I can educate myself on how to manage certain situations by putting things into practice. Being a Christian, I love God and feel the church is a place where respect of others is fundamental. I treat others in the way I wish to be treated.
Did your family oppose your decision marry a Nigerian?
We were both lucky to have families who stood by us and supported our decisions to get married. We were automatically accepted into each other's family. They understood that the most important key to our marriage is love.
How do you compete with other artistes?
I believe that I am good at what I do and I simply do what I do because of the passion I have for it; the fame or money involved at times is simply a bonus. Most British entertainers entertain in Queens English and seek people who speak and understand plain English, but I sail my own ship. My audience are fundamentally Nigerians. Being a white British lady adds the unexpected factor and seems to be accepted as a good thing.
How did you learn to cook Nigerian meals?
Over the years, I have managed to cook a variety of Nigerian dishes. I learn and recreate Nigerian dishes in my kitchen. I eat almost anything. I learnt from sources, both from visiting Nigeria to watching people cook and visiting websites to follow recipes. I refer to YouTube for procedures too.
Do you have any style preference?
I wear what I feel comfortable in and dress for the occasion at hand. I dress casually for day-to-day activities, usually with leggings and a top or a cardigan in cooler weather. For formal events, I like to dress up and look the part. If I have to attend a Nigerian event, I wear one of my many traditionally-sewn garments, including a gele. My definition of style depends on the mood I am in and where I am going to.
How do you keep fit and what are your beauty routines?
I would love to take part in more fitness-related activities but I am often pushed for time. I often go swimming and also enjoy tennis. Having enough sleep, combined with healthy diet is a must for me. I am a hygienic person; I bathe at every opportunity, two to three times a day – I like to moisturise my body with a nice firming and nourishing cream to help keep my skin young and soft in appearance. I take pride in growing my natural nails, which makes me feel girly.

NOW THE NEWS IN FULL.....

Jul 26th 2015, 05:32

Read his article as posted by Vanguard newspaper:

As spokesman to President Goodluck Jonathan, my phones rang endlessly and became more than personal navigators within the social space. They defined my entire life; dusk to dawn, all year-round. The phones buzzed non-stop, my email was permanently active; my twitter account received tons of messages per second. The worst moments were those days when there was a Boko Haram attack virtually every Sunday.

The intrusion into my private life was total as my wife complained about her sleep being disrupted by phones that never seemed to stop ringing. Besides, whenever I was not checking or responding to the phones, I was busy online trying to find out if the APC had said something contrarian or some other fellow was up to any mischief. A media manager in the 21st century is a slave of the Breaking News, a slave particularly of the 24-hour news cycle, and a potential nervous breakdown case. Debo Adesina, my colleague at The Guardian once said I was running a "one week, one trouble schedule". There were actually moments when trouble knocked on the door every hour, and duty required my team and I to respond to as many issues that came up.

Top of the task list was the management of phone calls related to the principal. In my first week on the job, for example, one of my phones ran out of battery and I had taken the liberty to charge it. While it was still in the off mode, the "Control Room": the all-powerful communications centre at the State House tried to reach me. They had only just that phone number, so I couldn't be reached. When eventually they did, the fellow at the other end was livid.

"SA Media, where are you? We have been trying to reach you. Mr President wants to speak with you"

"Sorry, I was charging my phone. The phone was off."

"Sir, you can't switch off your phone now. Mr President must be able to reach you at any time. You must always be available." I was like: "really? Which kin job be dis?"

The Control Room eventually collected all my phone numbers. If I did not pick up a call on time, they called my wife. Sometimes the calls came directly from the Residence, as we referred to the President's official quarters.

"Abati, Oga dey call you!"

If I still could not be reached, every phone that was ever connected to me would ring non-stop. Busy bodies who had just picked up the information that Abati was needed also often took it upon themselves to track me down. My wife soon got used to her being asked to produce me, or a car showing up to take me straight to the Residence. I eventually got used to it, and learnt to remain on duty round-the-clock. In due course, President Jonathan himself would call directly. My wife used to joke that each time there was a call from him, even if I was sleeping, I would spring to my feet and without listening to what he had to say, I would start with a barrage of "Yes sirs"! Other calls that could not be joked with were calls from my own office. Something could come up that would require coverage, or there could be a breaking story, or it could be something as harmless as office gossip, except that in the corridors of power, nothing is ever harmless. Looking back now, I still can't figure out how I survived that onslaught of the terror of the telephone.

Kemi how are you?......

I am a man in my 50s.
It is pressed in my heart to share this testinony for two reasons.
First to acknowledge the power of God, the Almighty in my life.
And secondly, to inspire or rather to encourage the reader or anybody that will hear of this testimony in an indirect way, that is, hearing from those who read this article.
That God is a great Ghod and can do all things.
HE alone can lift one up and bring another down
In my early days, l was working for an airline. I was earning my pay.
Through which we managed to put up an uncompleted 2-room-apartment.
And the hammer fell. The Airline was in problem.  We were asked to leave.
'Where do we start? What else could l do?' All these are some questions roaming my mind.
My wife was a petty trader.
Because of this, l had to apply for work on a farm-a well known one for that matter.
Imagine my salary ! N8000 per month (eight thousand naira only)! It was a sixth part of my former salary.
Out of this l had to set aside transportation fare because my house (we moved in to it to save house rent we could not meet) was a distance.
Then, l had no choice. I could not be depending on my wife for small things as little as shaving stick.
I learnt one or two lessons from this condition.
One Yoruba adage says that the first or early life earnings could be spent on trivialities. One may not be able to account for how the money one made disappears'. So it happened to me. Our status plummeted.
But our God is a great God
A great King, above other gods.
I cried to HIM and made supplications to HIM.
The time of waiting was tough and it was a deep darkness over the family.
I could not bring myself to great thinking of what l could do.
My Pastors.prayed for me. They kept on supporting me with prayers and food stuff.
Then, an opening came. It was and still is a great miracle. Out of my depressed state, a little idea l could not recognize to be it stared me in the face.
And l jumped at it and God, and l say, only God, could have brought the increase.
I went into a little backyard husbandry, l started with the poultry.
The grace of God was on it.
This encouraged me to add other aspects like flocks etc
Here l am today not by my power but by the move of God.
A man, who at 40years old, relieved of his job and could not easily think of what to do, is helped by God.
A man who, for 10 years after the severance from a thrilling and exciting job, moved from different degrees of poverty to another, could  now say, 'Hetherto, the Lord has helped me'
I have pleasure in what l do presently.
Let God be praised Who moves His people to their place of destiny.
And let the people who are now in the position l came out from, know that they with God can move great mountain and subdue the force of lack-be it lack of ideas or lack of direction or any lack whatsoever.

Sunday daily devotion by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Dividends of Holiness

Success is not really about the amount of money you have.Strippers  earn as much as 150,000 naira weekly exposing their naked bodies in clubs. Also, some politicians steal public funds, and leave their people to suffer. The list of ungodly means of making money are endless. Can we say people who make lots of money by ungodly means are successful? The likes of Bill Gates and Aliko Dangote can never be poor simply because they have a solution to some of human problems.Bill Gate helps solve the problem of information technology. .Dangote helps solve the problem of getting some basic needs like salt, cement, flour, steel, oil and gas and real estate.I think success is fulfilling your destiny on earth, and achieving your vision.A lot of rich people today are not successful. What is your own definition of success???

Topic: Dividends of Holiness [Sunday July 26, 2015]

There is therefore a link between righteousness and life, just as there is a link between sin and death (Romans 6:23). Although God has promised you long life in Psalm 91:16, it is only when you live holy that this promise can be fulfilled in your life (Psalm 91:14). If you look close enough, you will discover that most of God's promises have conditions attached to their fulfilment.
If you live holy, you will easily have access to long life, but if you live in disobedience or secret sin, you have moved from life to death. Are you holy? Are you still secretly living in sin? Repent today and turn a new leaf!

Another dividend of holiness is mercy. If you sow holiness, you will reap a harvest of God's mercy. Hosea 10:12 says:

"Sow to yourself in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you."

Holiness is a seed. If you sow holiness, mercy will definitely be part of your harvest. If there is one thing all men need at all times, it is the mercy of the Most High God. Lamentation 3:22says we are alive today not by our efforts or power but by the mercy of God. Just as holiness is a seed, sin is also a seed. If you sow sin, you will reap judgement and death (2 Corinthians 5:10). Mercy makes God to relate with you not on the basis of your sins, but on the basis of Christ's sacrificial death and shed blood. Mercy makes God not to give you the punishment you deserve, but sin ensures you are served what you sowed. Sin ensures God relates with you only on the basis of your crimes or evils. God has said that the soul who sins shall die (Ezekiel 18:20). If God were to relate strictly with us on the basis of our sins, everyone on earth would have died by now(Psalm 130:3). If you want to live long and enjoy God's mercy on a continuous basis, live holy. Live to please God and God alone.

Memorise: Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you. - Hosea 10:12

Read: Lamentations 3:22-25 (KJV)

22 It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

24 The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

25 The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.

MESSAGE:

Everyone saved by the precious Blood of the Lamb is called to a lifestyle of holiness (1 Thessalonians 4:7). Believe it or not, a lifestyle of holiness pays great dividends. Proverbs 11:19 says:

"As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death."

Key point: The wisest people on earth are those who live according to God's commands.
