Bloomberg: Ukraine Says Attacks on Troops Intensify as Unrest Worsens

Ukraine said pro-Russian militants intensified attacks on government troops overnight in a bid to win ground, a sign the recent surge in fighting is worsening.

Tensions in the 16-month conflict rose this week as the army reported renewed assaults on a village in the Donetsk region, an accusation the separatists deny. That prompted Ukraine to redeploy heavy artillery there that was removed under a February peace accord. The rebels, who control large swathes of the former Soviet republic's easternmost regions, are trying to advance again toward the village, located near the port of Mariupol, military spokesman Andriy Lysenko said.

"The main reason for the escalation is that we see a standstill in the peace process," Volodymyr Fesenko, head of the Penta research institute in Kiev, said by phone on Wednesday. "But I don't think there's a risk of a serious new conflict."

WNU Editor: The country is broke economically, politically, as well as being split along Ukraine and Ukrainian-Russian lines. The frustrations that I hear from my family/friends/and associates in Ukraine are becoming more and more difficult to listen to .... and I am hearing it from both sides. Topic: Plead The Blood [Thursday August 13, 2015]

MESSAGE:

The Blood of Jesus Christ is an expensive weapon made available to every believer in Christ. Our Lord Jesus Christ paid such a high price to secure this weapon for us; a price so high that the Bible refers to this weapon as precious. 1 Peter 1:19 says:

"But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:"

As you understand the worth of this weapon, you will appreciate the power it can unleash on the enemy. Little wonder the kingdom of darkness cannot stand the Blood of Jesus. To eliminate all doubt, a loud voice expressly declared from Heaven the victory of the saints over Satan himself through the Blood of Jesus, in Revelation 12:11:

"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death."

The Blood of Jesus is not only there to cleanse you from sin but also to protect and defend you. However, if you are not a Christian, although the Blood is available, it is not for your use. If you belong to the devil as described in John 8:44, you cannot use the Blood to overcome him. The Blood must first translate you to the kingdom of light by cleansing and washing away your sins before it can become a weapon in your arsenal.

A particular couple wondered how their money kept disappearing from their house. The man suspected it was his wife who was stealing his money. However, his wife also began to experience the loss of her money as well. At some point, she began to wonder the kind of husband she had, who would give her housekeeping money and later sneak in to steal it. When they could not bear it anymore, they both accused each other of stealing the other's money. It was then they discovered that something strange was happening to them, and they came to me. Realising that it was the devil at work on their finances, I told them to always say "I cover this money with the Blood of Jesus" before keeping it in any part of their house. It worked! From that moment, there was no incident of strange disappearance of their money. Cover the baby in your womb with the Blood of Jesus. Cover all your children at home and abroad with the Blood of Jesus. Cover your business and customers with the Blood of Jesus. Remember to always plead the Blood of Jesus. It is a weapon the devil cannot resist.

Key Point: If you are in right standing with God, anything you cover with the Blood of Jesus is truly safe.

A 3-year-old boy found dead in a Mercer County house fire had been rescued by his father but apparently followed the man when he went back inside to save two other children, police said on Tuesday. The fire broke out around 11:15 p.m.An autopsy on the body of Layden Thomas, of Sharon, was set for later Tuesday.
Lt. Mark Johnson said severe storms caused a power outage in parts of Sharon late Monday. The family lit a candle for light, which was knocked over by a 5-year-old. As a result, the couch caught on fire.

Lt. Johnson said. Terry Thomas carried his 3-year-old son outside, "put him on the porch, and went back in for the mother, an infant and a 5-year-old."

"It's unimaginable, I did my best, I got him to safety," Thomas said.

Police believe the boy followed his father back into the house, because there's no other way the boy could have wound up back inside without being seen, Johnson said.

"I've seen things happen, but I never thought it'd hit this close to home," Thomas said.

Thomas, two other children, and their mother eventually escaped the fire, Johnson said.

"Everybody was just frantically looking for the little boy, and nobody could find him," neighbor Morgan Sosebee said.

A state police fire marshal was continuing to investigate, but Johnson said the candle was believed to be the cause of the fire.
The boy appeared to have some heat burns, but none from direct contact with fire, leading investigators to believe he died of smoke inhalation before his body was found, Johnson said.

"I wouldn't wish this on anybody. He was a good boy. He always would come up to me if I was upset, tell my mommy I love you, I'm your best friend. It's just so surreal," his mother said.

A vigil for Layden Thomas is set for Wednesday night at 8 p.m. outside the family's home.

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has yielded to pressure to release the results of candidates for the May/June 2015 West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), earlier withheld as a result of indebtedness by some states.

This was due to the intervention of the Nigeria Governors Forum and other stakeholders who appealed to the examination body to reconsider its decision in view of the effect the withholding of the results would have on the future of the candidates.

Head of the Nigeria National Office of WAEC, Mr. Charles Eguridu, announced the release of the results, on Wednesday, at a joint news conference with the Deputy Director of the Nigeria Governor's Forum (NGF), Alhaji L.O.T Shitu, after hours of dialogue on the debt owed the council by some states.

He disclosed that the results could be uploaded on the council website within 24 hours of the announcement, saying the decision was based on the wish of the council not to impede the educational progress of any Nigerian child.

He said:

"Following appeals from our stakeholders, including parents, the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, notable Nigerians, other well-meaning citizens and most importantly, the intervention of secretariat of Nigeria Governors Forum, which we have informed is on the directive of the chairman of the forum and governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, we have decided to hearken to appeals and review our earlier position.

"More so, the continued withholding of the results will adversely affect the educational prospects of the affected candidates for admission purposes.

"Consequently, the management of the council has decided that the results of the candidates of indebted states would be released in deference to all the appeals and commitment of the NGF.

"The results are, therefore, to be uploaded on our result website in the next 24 hours. This decision is based on our wish not to impede the educational progress of any Nigerian child," he said.

A mother found dead in her jail cell last month can be seen in newly released bodycam footage telling officers she feared for her life before being locked up.

Ralkina Jones, 37, was found dead in Cleveland Heights Jail on July 26 shortly after being arrested for allegedly assaulting her abusive ex-husband.

In footage released today by Cleveland Heights Police, Ms Jones can be seen telling cops 'I don't want to die' 15 hours before she was found unconscious.

Jones' family is still awaiting the results of an investigation into her July 26 death. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has yet to release her cause of death, but said an autopsy found no suspicious injuries.

In about a half hour worth of body camera footage released by Cleveland Heights police, Jones is seen discussing her various health issues with police officers at the jail. She expressed concern about her health, and emphasized that she needed to stay in contact with her family and take her prescriptions.

Jones, 37, listed at least five medical conditions for which she was being treated.
Jones told the officers she suffered from postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), which causes lightheadedness and fainting upon standing up. She also said she was taking medication for seizures, ADHD and depression.

Jones also told police about a brain injury she received from abuse from her ex-husband, the man who Jones was accused of assaulting the night of her arrest.
Jones' sister in an earlier interview also said Jones had a heart murmur.

The officers in the video were cooperative and friendly with Jones. One of them suggested moving her to a cell where she would have access to a phone to speak with her family. But he said her current cell was better situated for jail personnel to monitor her health.

Jones was taken to a doctor a few hours after the recorded conversation. A jail employee found her appearing "lethargic" the evening of July 25. She was evaluated and released within a few hours.

Police say they checked on Jones periodically throughout the night.
The next morning at 7:30 a.m., the jail administrator found Jones unresponsive in the bed of her cell. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jones' family said she was in good health when they visited her in jail the day before she died. They initially expressed frustration toward police, who they said were releasing few details about Jones' death.

The family later released a statement through the police department saying they "do not fully understand all of the facts and circumstances surrounding her death but look forward to the results of the pending investigations."

It was obvious last night that the Nigeria Football Federation may not endorse the candidature of former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu for FIFA Presidency. Former Wimbledon star John Fashanu among many others have been campaigning for Kalu to contest the election to replace Sepp Blatter

However, Kalu has to be endorsed first by the Nigeria Football Federation before he can contest for the position. The federation also has to consider section one of article 13 of the FIFA statutes of the section which specifies conditions a candidate running for the office of FIFA President must meet.

The article states: The candidate shall have played an active role in association football (as a board member, committee member, referee and assistant referee, coach, trainer and any other person responsible for technical, medical or administrative matters in FIFA, a Confederation, Association, League or Club or as a player) for two of the last five years before being proposed as a candidate (cf. art. 24 par. 1 of the FIFA Statutes).

So due to this qualifications, the Nigeria Football Federation, even if it wants to endorse Kalu, may not be able to do so because the football -loving former Governor may not meet the above requirements.

Amaju Pinnick, President of the Federation said on television Monday that the federation would meet to discuss Kalu's interest in FIFA presidency.

However, a member of the federation said last night that their hands were tied by the statutory requirements to endorse Kalu.

Another member of the federation also advised that the former Governor ''should be wary of people who would want to defraud him''.
