From a male LIB reader.

My girlfriend gave birth on July 3rd but I am convinced I am not the father of the child. For one, the boy looks nothing like me, and secondly, I didn't sleep with her nine months before the baby was born. We had sex in early September last year before I left for Germany and I didn't see or touch her till Christmas 2014. She gave birth July 3rd, ten months after we had sex. Isn't a woman's term of pregnancy just nine months? If she had given birth in June, I wouldn't have bothered but as it is, I have my suspicions but don't know how to say it to anyone in case I am wrong. What do I do?

A leopard that injured five villagers in a savage attack in India has been beaten to death with sticks and burned.

 

Forest authorities said that the shocking incident took place in the Kalgaon area, in the Sivasagar district of the northeastern Assam state, as the villagers were collecting firewood.

 

The 7-year-old, fully-grown leopard is reported to have suddenly charged the group in a desperate attack.

The villagers said that to 'save their lives', they attacked the savage big cat with sticks and beat it to death.

5 of the group were injured in the attack. 

 

Indian leopards are under threat of extinction due to poaching for their skin. Villagers also regularly kill the cats when they stray near settlements.

A female leopard was beaten to death just weeks ago in a village in West Bengal's Purulia district.

Villagers were reported to have spotted the animal near the village and attempted to chase it.

But in its fear, the animal ran into the village instead of away from it, and entered a cowshed.

It was quickly cornered by hundreds of villagers and attacked with sticks and axes, and killed.

The leopard's tail was severed during the attack, and its paws chopped off, after which its body was suspended from a tree.

Leopard populations are often found quite close to settlements and even in semi-developed areas in India as their forest habitat disappears.

 

Under the Indian Wildlife Protection Act (IWPA), hunting or attacking a leopard is illegal as it is an endangered species. The offence carries a sentence of up to three years of imprisonment or a fine of 10,000 rupees (£106).

 

The forest department has also been trying to set up traps so the leopards can be stopped from entering human settlements.

A total of N1.5 billion has been withdrawn from the account of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, but the withdrawal hasn't been accounted for.
Hence the office of the Head of Service of the Federation and security agencies are currently trying to find where the funds were have been kept, retrieve them and bring justice to the culprits behind the missing money.
2 senior accountants in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs have already been queried and suspended from office pending the conclusion of investigation into their roles in the alleged theft of the funds.

They had argued that they withdrew the money on the instruction of superior authorities and that as civil servants they could not disobey their 'superiors' who asked them to make the said amount available for official use.

The amount in question was reportedly taken in two withdrawals on the instructions of senior political aide, claiming to be working on the directives of a top presidency top shot.

The first sum of N605 million withdrawn by a minister from the account of the ministry went missing after being withdrawn from the CBN and is the subject of investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, while another withdrawal of over N800 million attracted the attention of the HoS which queried the two accountants and finally suspended them.

There were indications that the suspended accountants had named those who were behind the cash withdrawals and had tried to exonerate themselves from the deal.

It was learned that the Federal Government is bent on inviting a former minister in the ministery to appear before its anti-corruption bodies to explain his role in the missing cash. Already, one of the former ministers and close confidant of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Elder Godsday Orubebe, has been questioned by the ICPC and freed by the commission.

The former minister claimed that he had already resigned before the cash went missing and that he never asked anyone to withdraw such amount for him, knowing that it was against service regulations. Already, the Presidency has been given a brief on the finances of the ministry and the roles played by some senior political actors in the dying days of the last administration.

A violent beggar choked a West Side man into unconsciousness in Central Park's Ramble in a hellish mugging that underscores the famed park's skyrocketing robbery stats.

"If you scream I'll kill you," were the last words the 53-year-old victim heard Thursday night as the fiend's arm tightened around his throat and he collapsed to the ground, cops said.
Upon regaining consciousness about half an hour later, the victim found that his wallet was gone.

His backpack, which held glasses, keys, gift cards, jewelry and cash, was also gone, cops said.
News of the brutal mugging had park-goers on edge Saturday.

"I am hungry. Do you have any money?" the suspect asked.

The victim tried at first to brush the beggar off, telling him he had no cash and walking away.

But the mugger, who appeared to be around 35 years old, 5-foot-8 and weighing 160 pounds, jumped him from behind. He was still at large Saturday night.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo said no individual can be regarded as the leader of the Yoruba people.

Obasanjo stated this in his book, titled, "My Watch: Political and Public Affairs," where he addressed what he called his "Nigerianness and Yorubanness."

In chapter 31, titled, "Campaigns and Elections," Obasanjo said Nigeria did not need tribal barons as leaders.

He added that there was nothing like Yoruba leadership in Yoruba land.

The former President said:

"Just as there was no single oba having sovereignty over the whole of Yorubaland, there was no individual as leader of the Yorubas in Yorubaland. As it was then, it remains till now."

He noted that even among the Yoruba Obas "there is equality, but mutual respect."

Backing his claim with a saying, "no crown is subordinate to another," the former President said cities and areas were normally of different sizes.

He said, in the old days,  obas never saw one another, but sent messages through emissaries.

According to him, it was the colonialists that made the obas see one another face-to-face. The colonialists, he said, went further to rank Yoruba traditional rulers.

Obasanjo noted that in the North, the majority of emirs accepted the Sultan of Sokoto as the direct descendant of Usman Dan Fodio.

He said the Sultan was accepted as the leader among Hausa/Fulani traditional rulers.

"The Yorubas did not have such a clear-cut and accepted hierarchy. Every oba maintains sovereignty over his domain," he added.

Obasanjo explained that 'baales' (chiefs) were appointed by obas within their domains.

The former president said the supporters of the first Premier of the Western Region, the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, "fixed" the title of Yoruba leader on the late sage during the Civil War.

He recalled that during the war, different ethnic groups met separately to consider positions and issues for the future of Nigeria.

According to him, Awolowo presided over the meeting of the Yorubas in Ibadan.

"In the course (of the meeting), Chief Awolowo presided. His supporters then fixed the title of Yoruba leader upon him," he stated.

Obasanjo said that some people, including Chief Adisa Akinloye, did not accept Awolowo as the leader of the Yoruba.

Obasanjo said that after he successfully ended the Civil War, some people began to extol his "Yorubanness."

"I did not encourage this. 'My Yorubaness' and 'my Nigerianness' must go pari passu, and one must not stand in the way of the other," he stated.

Explaining the relationship between the two, Obasanjo stated that his parents were from Owu in Abeokuta.

He stated:

"I bear Owu tribal marks. And better or worse still, I speak English with my Owu dialect. I have always maintained and felt proud of my 'Owunness', 'Yorubannes' and 'Nigerianness' in that order.

"They are all parts of my cherished identity. But I have always refused and I will always refuse to be constrained, diminished or reduced to the level of Yoruba leadership.

"Without being immodest, I am a national leader, an African leader and a world leader in my own way."

"I strongly believe that Nigeria needs nationalists to propel it forward. Myopic tribal barons and tendencies will not take us too far."

Obasanjo said that Nigeria was inadvertently deprived of nationalists as leaders at independence.

"Other countries like Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Mali, Senegal, Cameroon, to mention a few, were not so deprived," he noted.

He expressed the hope that Nigeria could still regain what it lost when it gained independence.

Obasanjo further said,

"If a person is born in the Yoruba, Igbo, Nupe tribes, it is important that he tries and grows up as a Nigerian with total commitment to Nigeria."

This, he explained, was a sure way "to make Nigeria stable, secure, developed and great."

He said that the misapplication of personal and tribal interests was the bane of political stability and rectitude in most African countries.

 

"I have always believed that the interest of any Nigerian tribe can best be met and served when the national interests are served and not outside it," he added.

 

The Nigerian leader said that where the need arose, in the interest of justice and fairness, he had spoken and acted on behalf of the Yoruba.

 

He stated, "I have done so, but not against the overall Nigerian interests or against the interest of any other groups for that matter."

Beyoncé Knowles spent £200k on a pair of diamond-encrusted stilettos that she plans to wear in her next video.She bought the stilletos from  The House of Borgezie Princess Constellation stilettos.

And the Princess Constellation stilettos, which sparkle with 1,290 precious stones, are very lavish.
 

She comtinued her shopping spree by adding a gem-studded, gold Basque belt to her basket, an accessory that cost her a further £55,000.

3 months ago, Mr. Price, 31, announced he was setting a new minimum salary of $70,000 at his Seattle credit card processing firm, Gravity Payments, and slashing his own million-dollar pay package to do it, but has fallen on hard times as a result of his bold move.
He wasn't thinking about the current political clamor over low wages or the growing gap between rich and poor, he said. He was just thinking of the 120 people who worked for him and, let's be honest, a bit of free publicity.

The idea struck him when a friend shared her worries about paying both her rent and student loans on a $40,000 salary. He realized a lot of his own employees earned that or less.

 

Yet almost overnight, a decision by one small-business man in the northwestern corner of the country became a swashbuckling blow against income inequality.

The move drew attention from around the world — including from some outspoken skeptics and conservatives like Rush Limbaugh, who smelled a socialist agenda — but most were enthusiastic.

2 of Mr. Price's most valued employees quit, spurred in part by their view that it was unfair to double the pay of some new hires while the longest-serving staff members got small or no raises. Some friends and associates in Seattle's close-knit entrepreneurial network were also piqued that Mr. Price's action made them look stingy in front of their own employees.

 

Then potentially the worst blow of all: Less than two weeks after the announcement, Mr. Price's older brother and Gravity co-founder, Lucas Price, citing longstanding differences, filed a lawsuit that potentially threatened the company's very existence. With legal bills quickly mounting and most of his own paycheck and last year's $2.2 million in profits plowed into the salary increases, Dan Price said, "We don't have a margin of error to pay those legal fees."

 

'There's no perfect way to do this and no way to handle complex workplace issues that doesn't have any downsides or trade-offs,' Price said.

 

In court documents, Lucas Price accused his brother of violating his rights as a minority shareholder in Gravity Payments while giving himself an 'excessive' $1 million salary.

The complaints were initially signed March 13 and filed April 24, 11 days after Dan Price announced the pay raises for the 120 employees of Gravity Payments. 

The previous average salary at the company was $48,000.

 

Price has an estimated net worth of $3 million. 

 

Lucas Price claims in court documents that his brother excessively paid himself a $1 million dollar salary in the years before the big announcement, an alleged violation of an agreement limiting his compensation.

'We don't have a margin of error to pay those legal fees,' Dan Price said.

Attorney Greg Hollon, who represents Lucas Price, says the lawsuit is in response to a series of events over years not just the announcement.

 

'I deeply regret the rift this has caused in my relationship with my brother, who I love, and I'm hoping and praying for a quick resolution that's positive for everybody.'

The brothers co-founded the merchant-services company Price & Price in 2004, but appear to have had a long-standing disagreement over how the company should be run.

 

Dan Price was named CEO in 2006, and two years later the company was restructured as Gravity Payments, with Lucas Price agreeing to become a minority shareholder. 

 

What few outsiders realized, however, was how much turmoil all the hoopla was causing at the company itself. To begin with, Gravity was simply unprepared for the onslaught of emails, Facebook posts and phone calls. The attention was thrilling, but it was also exhausting and distracting.

 

And with so many eyes focused on the firm, some hoping to witness failure, the pressure has been intense.

 

More troubling, a few customers, dismayed by what they viewed as a political statement, withdrew their business. Others, anticipating a fee increase, despite repeated assurances to the contrary, also left. While dozens of new clients, inspired by Mr. Price's announcement, were signing up, those accounts will not start paying off for at least another year. To handle the flood, he has already had to hire a dozen additional employees, now at a significantly higher cost, and is struggling to figure out whether more are needed without knowing for certain how long the bonanza will last.

On the latest episode of I Am Cait, Caitlyn Jenner opened up about the insecurities she faces as a woman as she went on a girls' road trip to San Francisco.

The reality star, 65, confessed she was worried about her deep voice and was considering surgery to make it higher.

She also told her girlfriends - a group of trans women - that she wasn't ready to get into a bathing suit in front of them.

'The pool's too damn cold right now,' she told Jenny Boylan, a writer and co-chair of GLAAD. 'It will happen at some point but I'm in no rush.'

She added: 'This process of coming out doesn't happen overnight. There are so many hurdles to overcome.'

Referring to wearing a bathing suit, she said: 'That's where I've got to get and that's going to take time.

'I just don't know if I'm ready to expose myself like that. Maybe down the line I'll feel more comfortable but right now I can't see myself doing that.'

Caitlyn confessed her worries about her voice to personal assistant Ronda, hair stylist Courtney and stepdaughter Kim Kardashian.

She said: 'One thing that's always a challenge for everybody is your voice. That can out shoot any time. You look great, you look fabulous, then you open up your voice and everybody goes "oh my god."'

Speaking to Kim and pal Malika Haqq, she revealed how she has tried to secretly order room service in a feminine voice over the years.

She explained: 'What I want to do is just slip into society. One thing I need to work on is that voice.'

'Try out some voices that are a little lighter,' Kim encouraged, suggesting Caitlyn practice ordering breakfast in a different voice.

 

But the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star descended into fits of giggles when Caitlyn opened her mouth and sounded exactly the same.

 

'You sound no different,' she said.

 

'There are things that you can do to change that. Surgery,' Caitlyn told Kim and Malika.

But a horrified Kim told her: 'What if they made a mistake and you came out with no voice?'

'Living in the bubble is an impediment to understanding other people.

'If Cait's going to be a spokesperson for our community, this is something she's going to have to understand.'
