Sarah Oropeza, the manager of the Famous Footwear in Merriam, was finishing off a customer sale on Saturday when a co-worker ran into the store screaming for help - she had just found a little girl in a car.
Oropeza said her employee opened her trunk to try and find something to break the driver's side window to get to the 2-year-old girl, but the window didn't crack. Oropeza recalled screaming for help that there is a baby in the car. Oropeza herself is a mother of two.
She said that another woman came with a screw driver to see if that could help, but again, the window did not break. Oropeza was not giving up though. She began whacking the window with a tire iron. She got it to crack. Then another woman came up with a truck hitch and threw it at the window. Oropeza said at least four women stepped up to try and help her get to the toddler.
"Her shoes were wet, her socks were wet. She was so drenched in sweat. I just started crying," Oropeza said.
Finally, the glass cracked, and then another women came up and threw a truck hitch at the window, shattering it.
Once rescued from the car the child was given medical attention by a nurse at the scene. An ambulance arrived and a police officer bought diapers for the toddler, because there was no diaper bag in the car. Paramedics checked the girl's vitals and she was later picked up by her godmother.
It is believed the couple that drove the child to the shopping area left her in the car while they were at a nearby cellphone store. Oropeza said they claimed the toddler was their niece. They came in the shoe store and asked to get the child back.
"No emotion at all, whatsoever. The only question they had for police was if insurance was going to pay to cover the window that we broke," Oropeza said.
Oropeza and an officer told the couple to leave the store. Police ticketed the couple for child endangerment, and the case is going to the Johnson County District Attorney. 
'The windows were totally rolled up, all the doors were locked. She was covered in sweat,'
Oropeza added: 'When I looked in the back window, she was covered in sweat.
'She had pulled her hair back and sweat was just dripping.'
Oropeza desperately tried to break into the car, but couldn't.

It was learnt that residents and officials of the Lagos State Fire Service, who came to the area after receiving the distress call, had difficulties rescuing the victim due to the depth of the well.
It was gathered that a member of the Oodua People's Congress later summoned up courage and went down the well to rescue the boy at about 7pm.
He brought out the boy dead.
It was learnt that the well was dug about eight years ago by the landlord of the building but was abandoned when it did not produce water.
Some youths were said to have been angered by the fact that the landlord had left the well open for so long. So, they reportedly stormed the residence and broke some window glasses.
The landlord, Bamidele Ogunwole, was said to have been arrested on Monday after the incident was reported at the Ogijo Police Division, Ogun State.
Emmanuel's mother, Kikelolomo, who spoke in tears, described the deceased as her "everything." She said,
"He had brothers and sisters, but he was my everything. He was very intelligent and smart. It was his brother that rushed to tell me he had drowned."His father, Sergeant Abu Samuel, said the most painful part was the fact that the landlord buried his child without his consent.
"I was on duty when I was called that my son had drowned only to come back home and be told he was dead. To add insult to injury, that man (the landlord) buried my child somewhere in Agodo without my consent," he said.Residents described Emmanuel's death as avoidable.One of them, who identified herself only as Esther, said,
"It is very easy for anybody to get trapped in a well that is left open like this. One of the man's tenants told me that they had complained several times to the landlord, but he ignored them."The lawyer for the family, P.O. Idogun, accused the police of "foot-dragging," adding that no relative of the suspect had shown up at the police station. The Chairman of the community development association, Alara Ogodo, blamed the suspect for burying the child without the approval of his family.
The Ogun State Police spokesperson, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the landlord had presented himself to the police. He said, "He is in our custody. We will do something about the case."

Along with tracking down those responsible, the ongoing police inquiry will also investigate unconfirmed allegations that the clip might have been a publicity stunt engineered by the Japanese company.
Since the incident, the store has become a selfie hot spot.
If the video is found to have originated with Uniqlo, the firm could face a fine between 200,000 and 1 million yuan ($32,000 to $160,000) and have its business license revoked.

Greenberg did not have any health problems and police said there was no evidence of foul play or drugs, his mother, Lori Greenberg, said.
In a tweet Monday, the Gainesville Police Dept. said there was "no evidence of foul play or suicide" in his death.
"Despite the best of intentions, we made very serious mistakes," they said in a statement at the time. "We failed to secure licenses from rights holders for the vast amount of music on the service. That was wrong. We apologize. Without reservation."Grooveshark's parent company, Escape Media Group, agreed to pay $75 million to labels Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group if Grooveshark violated the terms of the settlement.
She said
"He was excited about potential new things that he was going to start," she said.Grooveshark's service let users upload songs and made them available to other users to stream. The startup had deals with some record companies for rights to their music but was sued by the three major labels, which said Grooveshark's founders had personally uploaded to the site almost 6,000 songs they didn't have the rights to and urged employees to do so as well. In September 2014, a U.S. federal district court ruled against Grooveshark, which claimed to have more than 40 million users at the peak of its popularity.
At the time of his death, Greenberg was listed as a co-founder and board member of TapShield, a Florida startup whose system lets users alert emergency responders about crimes or suspicious activity from their mobile phones.

It's rare that official representatives of the U.S. visit foreign parliaments to persuade lawmakers to vote a certain way on some piece of legislation. Yet last week, Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland traveled to Kiev and did just that, as the Ukrainian parliament prepared to vote on amendments to the country's constitution.
Nuland was interested in just one line of the bill that President Petro Poroshenko submitted to the parliament, on page 7:

It may sound like a bland provision, but it was worth Nuland's airfare, because the line was actually very controversial. Many legislators refused to vote for it. Mustafa Nayyem, a member of Poroshenko's parliamentary faction, explained that the "special law" might enable a future legislature to grant the rebellious, pro-Russian regions in eastern Ukraine powers amounting to legal secession. "I am convinced such a norm doesn't reflect the will of the Ukrainian people, which has already lost thousands of soldiers and continues to fight a bloody war to bring those regions back under Ukrainian jurisdiction," Nayyem wrote.
